The topical market is growing in leaps and bounds, and a huge portion of that is creams. According to Soleil (Aphria Brand), “It is expected that by 2025 the global CBD skincare market will reach $1.7 billion. Topicals and self-care products have a potential to reach $37 million this year; 50% of this is in lotions and creams.”
Clearly there is much need for these products, and with that comes great need for information to make the right choice. So why choose CBD over THC; and why would you want or not want a transdermal formulation?
Anecdotal evidence and a growing number of research projects suggest that CBD is the preferential choice for inflammatory conditions like arthritis or skin issues like eczema. On the other hand, THC is gravitated to for pain in the muscles and joints. Of course doing a blend of the two gives both benefits as well.
Regular lotions don’t go deeper than the skin layer which keeps the CBD and/or THC out of the bloodstream. Transdermal formulations are designed to seep in much deeper, and they allow the cannabinoids to enter the bloodstream. This means a transdermal with THC can give the user a cannabis high.
Which one you choose should be suited to your functional needs. Luckily each day brings new choices to the market.
